Benjamin Simmons and Matthew Pearl are New York City based tenor saxophonists who began their musical journey in Marlborough, Massachusetts. Simmons and Pearl both graduated summa cum laude from the University of Hartford’s Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz in 2023 each with a bachelor’s degree in jazz studies. Throughout their time at the University of Hartford, Simmons and Pearl studied with world renowned saxophonist, Abraham Burton, as well as Rene McLean, Nat Reeves, and Steve Davis. Since graduating, the tenor duo has shared the stage with notable Hartford musicians Nat Reeves, Jonathan Barber, Matt Dwonszyk, and Haneef Nelson. Benjamin Simmons and Matthew Pearl are prominent players in the Hartford scene and on the rise in New York City.
